Karlos Piñero-Mercado

Puerto Rican tenor Karlos Piñero-Mercado (they/them) is a Chicago-based performer known for the “sensitivity and earnestness” of their “strong, clear tenor” Parterre Box. Karlos is a recent alumnus of Chicago Opera Theater's Young Artist Program. They are passionate about new music and introducing Latine art song, especially the music of Puerto Rico, to mainstream audiences.

Piñero-Mercado is an alumnus of the music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. They received their Bachelor of Music from the University of Central Florida and their Master of Music from CCPA at Roosevelt University, studying under countertenor Mark Crayton.
