transfer(to): is a series of public art micro-performances that take place in and around the elaborate arteries of Chicago's public transit system. This commission-based project challenged four Chicago composers (Samuel Adams, John Elmquist, Igor Santos, David Skidmore) to utilize environs as part of their compositional process. The goal of this project is to expose the public at large to performances in an unconventional setting by weaving works of art into the fabric of everyday life. In conjunction with the 2016 Ear Taxi Festival, beyond this point will be performing these commissions throughout the summer within the city’s CTA stations to promote the upcoming festival and serve as reminder that creativity can live in the most unexpected places. transfer(to): is supported in part by the Chicago Department of Special Events and Cultural Affairs (DCASE).
