Dayna Calderón has been an active force in the Chicago music and cultural arts community for over 25 years. Her background includes 20+ years of broadcast production for local NPR radio affiliate, WBEZ 91.5FM, Community Public Radio station, WDCB 90.9FM, and the National Public Radio Network.  Credits include producer/director for many live, national broadcasts as well as a two-part documentary on the History of Chicago Jazz for NPR’s “Jazz Profiles” series.

During her tenure at Chicago’s prestigious Old Town School of Folk Music, she curated a variety of series including: Jazz @ The Old Town School, Piano Night, DjangoFest, International Accordion Night, An Evening of New Orleans Music and a co-presentation with the Jazz Institute of Chicago’s Jazz Club Tour.  These programs increased audience diversity by 40%. Cross promotion of concerts and education programming with special multicultural and educational presentations by headlining performers raised the visibility of the School and gained national recognition as a new, viable venue for jazz programming.

She has served as an inaugural team member and Project Manager for groundbreaking, cultural initiatives including: “Night Out in the Parks”, Chicago Park District, “Make Music Chicago”, Make Music Alliance, and “World Music Festival, Chicago.”  These projects have cumulatively brought arts and cultural to more than 250 venues throughout Chicago.

She continues to work independently in project management, production and programming for a variety of not for profit organizations in the City of Chicago and the City of Evanston, IL.
